Namur Province
A Walloon province of Belgium, capital Namur.
Namur is a province in Wallonia, one of Belgium’s three regions. Its capital and biggest city is also called Namur. As of January 2024, the province’s population is roughly half a million.
Covering 3,675 square kilometres, Namur is split into three administrative districts, which together contain 38 municipalities. The province borders the Walloon provinces of Hainaut, Walloon Brabant, Liège, and Luxembourg, as well as the French department of Ardennes.
In 2018, the province’s gross domestic product was 13.5 billion euros, making up 2.9% of Belgium’s total economic output. That same year, its GDP per capita, adjusted for purchasing power, stood at 24,000 euros—80% of the EU27 average. GDP per employed person was 104% of the EU27 average.
Namur is twinned with the Louga Region in Senegal, Jiangsu Province in China, and the Tunis Governorate in Tunisia.
